Welcome

The mission of the LSCC Benefit Fund is to enhance quality of life by providing, with compassion and dignity, medical means for older adults and the Lexington Senior Citizens Center.

The Senior Emergency Medical Program (SEMP) serves Fayette County residents age 60 and over at 125% of poverty or below. The fund may be accessed twice per calendar year to assist with the purchase of prescription medicine, durable medical equipment, dentures, hearing aids, dietary supplements, and adult diapers. The recipient of these funds cannot have any health insurance other than Medicare. All program participants are screened and assisted by the social worker at the Senior Center. In addition to immediate financial relief, the social worker refers the recipient to any other drug assistance or community programs that offer more long-term relief for medical costs. The recipient of these funds cannot have any health insurance other than Medicare.

The Center works with Professional Plaza Pharmacy to offer prescription drugs at the lowest possible cost. Each year, the Benefit Fund reviews and accepts bids from competing pharmacies in order to maintain quality services at the lowest possible cost. Since it's inception in 1998 through the end of 2003, the Senior Emergency Medical Fund spent over $150,000 on behalf of Fayette County Seniors.
